Taking the Role of Being a Role Model.
As many may know, I am a Senior Mentor for a class of freshman that attend my school. This happens to be something that I actually love doing and is quite a great role to brag about. The kids that I mentor, a small group of 7, are all different and each have their own unique personalities and I love working with them. I love being able to help them when they are having hardships with family members or difficulty understanding their work. It feels good knowing that I'm sort of like an older sister to them. However, there is an extent and a boundary that remains between both the students and myself that let's them know that I have some sort of authority and let's me know that they aren't children but young adults. This in itself can definitely be categorized or titled as an adult responsibility. There are things that have to be done throughout the class period that gradually teach me the skills of being a successful role model to my peers and people around me. These skills that I learned have certainly taught me to act as a mature young lady more and more everyday.♥

This is a good way to look at it. In some ways the class helps you, albeit in a different way. What is your definition of leadership?
ReplyDeleteWell being a leader for students is great. Not only do they learn from you but they also can make you grow as a person.
ReplyDeleteWell, Cee-Cee, I have the same feeling. Fortunately, I do not have 7 freshmen, I have 4. I love that you like to help the young people. I do too. Leadership is something we both prize.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Cierra, freshman seminar has changed alot of people for the better. It has also given us some new skills to use in college and life. Great blog!
