My 'Text to Self' Connection.
In the novel, 'The Kite Runner', I happen to make a text to self connection as soon as the forth page of the book. It was on this page that the narrator explained the relationship he and his friend Hassan had had. Although Hassan was more calm spirited and laid back, it seemed that the narrator, his best friend, always got into mischief. However, when the boys were confronted Hassan would always take the blame for his buddies actions to keep him out of trouble although he knew it wasn't him. I believe this is a text to self connection because when I was younger many of my older friends would do this for me to keep me from getting in trouble with my mother. They would often take the blame for me when I did petty things and acted mischieviously.

Good connection. Where is the section of the entry in you discuss what you learned about Afghanistan/Islam?
ReplyDeleteIt was very sweet for your older friends to protect you like that. Just as with Hassan, that showed just how loyal and caring they were. All children get into trouble and mischief, it's just part of childhood, but not all children find friends that would protect them like that, from a small scale or even to something like Hassan hiding the fact that he was assaulted so that Amir would not get into trouble.
