Afghani and Islamic Culture.

After reading some of the novel, I was introduced to new cultures and habits. For example, in the novel the narrators friends mother leaves her family not too long after he was born. She left with a clan of traveling singers and dancers. Although it was wrong for her to just up and leave, she followed her dream. In the Afghani culture, they believed that to be worse than death itself. They thought that it was awful and that she was wrong for doing that. In our country many people adore talented people who are signing artists and dancers. Whereas it is of total contrast in Afghanistan.

  1. I am struck with this particular observation of yours. In America we really do commend our young woman for being confident, and we encourage them to take to the stage if acting is their aptitude. In so many Muslim countries, females who act, sing, and preform are outcasts; it's almost tantamount to prostitution. As a dramatically inclined kind of guy, I feel luckt to live in America.
